First of all I'd just like to say hello as this is my first post to the forum.
I'm currently getting a small, PC based, home recording solution together for myself and need some advice about mixers.
1st, this is what I already have: Decent PC, M-Audio Delta 66 sound card, a couple of decentish mic's (SM58 hanging around from an old band, and an AKG C1000S), Sonar 2.2XL.
What I want to do is get a mixing desk where I can record up to 4 tracks (to start with) simultaniously through the Delta, whilst also monitoring playback from the Delta through the mixer.
I currently have a cheapy live mixer that I had lying around from a previous band, but with that I can't listed to the playback at the same time as recording.
This leads me to believe I would be best looking at a mixer that has direct out's for all the channels. Am I right?
Now, I was looking at the Mackie 1202 before I realised that it doesn't have direct outs, and then at a shop It was recommended that I might want to take a look at a Soundcraft M8.
Not knowing much about the hardware side of things I searched the web for reviews and only found a couple of useful ones.
What I'd like to know is: does anyone own one of these? and is it any good?
I've been quoted a price of £349.99 (about $568).
I'm planning on buying some decent speakers in a couple of months, so in the meantime I shall be monitoring from the mixer via headphones.
Thanks for you help
