My name ain't Harvey but here goes. The RNMP is just that, a mic preamp. No compression, no EQ. I'm not 100% sure on this but I believe its solid state (no tubeness). Here's a little linky that might interest you:

If that link works (the long ones always worry me) you should get to the following post to rec.audio.pro by Mark McQuilken (the FMR Audio guy):
Yes. In fact, we recently spent a day in the studio testing the RNMP against some others and we (I should say that the *real* recording engineers in the room) were giddy over the results. I was *very* pessimistic going into the tests and at least emerged less bummed. The tambORINE through the RNMP sounded smooth and sweet on the top end without any mid-range "mud"...
BTW, Pete, Beth and I appreciate your and other's enthusiasm for our RNC and future products! At this point I'm 90% sure that the RNMP (as it stands) will see the light of day, but I really want to make sure that it's something special. So, if you need preamps now, there are several other good-to-great pres to choose from. I won't be able to be more specific about the RNMP until my pre-production run is complete...
Thanks,
McQ

Hey, what's this thread with my name? If this is about the RNEQ, it's still in the works with the MicPre getting my current attention. IMHO, you can't go wrong with the ASC...it's clean, sounds *great*, is a bargain AND even looks good!
As for the RNMP, I'll be announcing feature-set and performance details soon. The concept behind it is similar to the RNC: accurate, sounds good, is affordable and will provide 1/3 of an eventual "voice channel" in a single rack space.
Cheers!
