A Gov't Mule Cover...

This is a live recording right? How many mics did you use, and where'd you put it/them in the room?

The drums sound really far back, and everything's kind of muddy, so It's hard for me to judge how the tone is. I'll tell you what I think about the performance though:

Vocals sound like Warren for the most part. There are a couple parts when the singer loses pitch control a little bit.

It's a cool song though, and you sound like you guys can play it pretty well.
 
For a live perofmance it sounds good. The one thing I hear noticeably missing is some kik.

Like ZIP said, it's a bit muddy. Maybe clean up some of the low-mids. But I like the vibe and sound. Sounds like some Hendrix recordings I've heard.

I don't know the original, so I can't compare, but I like the tune.

Thanks for listening ziplock...yeah , it is a live recording...we just use a single stereo mic out in our practice room, so we can go back and critique after practice...I dumped it straight from my minidisk to my pc, and converted it to mp3 to post it....no eq or anything..
Warren is a great vocalist , (as well as guitarist :))..so it's a great challange to try and cover a Gov't Mule song for us...we are a 3piece and the bassist sings...

Hey Rami,for me , vibe is pretty important ...especially since I'm not that good at capturing a good recording :p....I probably should try a bit of eq adjustment to make these sound better...

Thanks Dogman..I know it's not very hi quality ,audio wise...but it kinda keeps me motivated to post stuff up here and get feedback as the other 2 guys in the band are kinda in a mood were they don't wanna play outside the basement to much right now....

Playing out can be work and/or fun.....

I see/hear what Rami means by no kik.

Nice live vibe to the whole thing. You guys have a good "live" mix going on that the mic will naturally pick up. Pretty good volume for the basement too....:)

The tune gets nicely groovin' pretty quick - good job....

Is that you in the bathrobe? :eek::D
 
New song for me.
I like - sounds like fun to play too. All the recording issues have been addressed so I'll just say - nice one ta!
