I need advise on a good synth keyboard. I need some recommendations. I've seen many people selling Kurzweil, Korg and other keyboards at good prices. I have samples from the Kurzweil K2500 samples and some Korg M1 samples and they sound very good.
Personally, I think the Alesis QS-series keyboards have the best sounds for the money spent.
My brother picked up a QS-8 (full 88 key weighted) for around $1500.
After working with Yamaha and Ensoniq synth for years ... the QS-series piano sounds are by far the most natural I've ever heard at this price range.
I've had an Ensoniq ASR-10 for years (bought in 1995 for around $2k) and I haven't even turned it on since my brother bought his QS8.
Check out these keyboards at Alesis' site: http://207.158.208.27/products/keyboards.html
Hey: I still rely on my Yamaha DX-7. I have to because it took me 5 years to learn how to get in and out of its systems.
Meanwhile, I did buy an Alesis synth; small view screen and hard to read; I'm getting older I guess. I could figure out the synth but did not care for it and sold it.
As most people do today, call Sweetwater, better yet, call FULL COMPASS, and rent a board for 90 days. If you like it, buy a new one and check by calling all of the 800 numbers you can get out of EM. You will be surprised that a price swing of two or three hundred bucks can happen.
