A Good Investment?

Regardless of exchange rates, audio electronics are a lot more expensive in the UK than the US to start with anyway. For example I know a Grace 101 over here retails for the best part of $800!

Yeah... I've seen that, and then then you've got the international transaction fees... My bank charged me $5.00 + 1% of transaction total... cost me almost $10.00 for every 250 euro I spent... bastards!!!

And now back to your original thread...

I can't say anybody has swayed me much from the Avalon/Neumann combo, although I am tempted by the Great River ME-1NV, Grace 101 and the DAV Electronics BG1. Rupert Neve Portico 5012-H is another option I've looked into.

Other than the fact that if the room sounds bad...that combination wont help you that much...like I said make that room sound great...then a preamp will be the next thing...if you like the Great River...I reccomnd that one...the AT4040 is a fine mic...I think you got that one right....but what you save getting the great river and DIY room solutions...the u87 would be more cost effective.

I love the BG-1... It's clean and big

The BiG-1
