hey,
I'm trying to get into using samplers/drum machines for an industrial metal based band. A few questions about samplers/drum machines.

Do they come with the sounds that you need or do you have to find sounds? If you have to find the sounds, where would you find them?

How do you become familiar enough with them to go to your local shop and test them and actually have some kind of idea what you're doing?

What is a good sampler/drum machine to get on a very limited budget that will be highly functional?

I think that's all for now, I'm sure I have plenty more questions, I'll just have to think of them. Thanks in advance for your replies.

Here's a LINK to an Akai MPC1000.

Some denegrade this as not being 'a real MPC', but those people are quite foolish. Mine has the 128megabyte memory expansion and a 20 gigabyte hard drive inside.

These are the shit as far as durability and ease of use.

If your budget doesn't allow splashing out for one right now, IMHO you should save up until it does. Anything else is a compromise solution and the MPC is the real thing.

As far as sounds go, either make them yourself or find them on the web for free.
