LemonTree

Suck 'em and see!
As the years go on I find myself less interested in playing live and a lot more taken in with music recording and production. I have what I consider a formidable home studio setup for my needs:

an A&H GS1 32/8/2 into my Delta 1010. I track with CoolEdit Pro and mix in Cubase 32 VST 5.1. All drums are programed using Fruity Loops 3.4, bass and guitars go through a (dreaded) Behringer Vamp 2, vocals through an SM 58.

I've been recording for about a year now but things IMO have started to come together recently after spending 100s of hours reading everything I can find on the boards here at HRBBs.

I don't have an acousticaly treated room and I'm monitoring through a 10 yearold pair of Aiwa SX-Z200s (top spec speakers in their day buy no way flat) which I think my ears know pretty well. I want to do a garage conversion, get some decent monitors and some room treatment, hopefully add a second Delta 1010 and get my hands on some real bands (with live drumers). The big question is AM I WASTING MY TIME?

The songs are ANOTHER PLANET (the only ones) recorded and mixed last December and NEW YORK (sex pistols) recorded and mixed last weekend.

Any comments on the level/balance of my mixes would be greatfully appreciated. Constructive criticism please, I'm learning. :)

You do realize that by giving your username/password, that anyone can upload, and/or delete what's there, right?

Yeah, dude, get a Nowhereradio account (www.nowhereradio.com). It's free, it's what most people here used, and it's run by a guy from this BBS

I'm on my way there now

thanks

can I get them to show up on my front page there? I can only seem to access them by clicking on DISCOGRAPHY then on SINGLES.

nothing's easy these days

cool, so just add "/singles" after your url from now on.

checking the tune out now

Listening to NY now, i can almost swear I've heard this song before. Have you posted it here before?

The performance is real good, the guitars sound big, but lacking a little definition IMO. The mix isn't crystal clear, but it adds a nice feel to the song tho. I might have heard some peaking on the lead vocal, but that could have been just the guitars.

Good job, man. You are definitely not wasting your time, keep up the good work, and have fun tracking real drums next time(they are real tough to get it right:)

Thanks Al

You probably have heard it before, it's a cover of a Sex Pistols tune from 1977.

Thanks for taking the time to listen
