has anyone here had the pleasure of playing a fender tornado? a guitar player from my favorite band right now plays one. on the recordings, it sounds very clean and bell like. beautiful.
take care,
rob

I saw one once and wanted to buy it, but sadly I had not the money and had to pass. Kind of weird looking. Isn't it Toronado, or am I wrong?

It's a Fender Toronado, not a tornado. My next-door neighbor had one when I was a kid before he sold it and got a Les Paul....

yeah yeah yeah

TOrOnado. not going to school right now, just want some info on the guitar. rawrr rawrr rawrr.

There are (or at least were) several different Fender Toronados, some MIM and some MIA. I always planned on bagging a MIA when they finally got blown out, but apparently I missed 'em.

The one my friend had was a semi-hollow body ala the Gibson ES-335. I guess when the revived that model name, it was for a solid-body design.

I got to play a Toronado a little while back, and honestly I wasn't just terribly impressed. The humbuckers sounded quite uninspiring. Rather dull and muddy, with no real character to them. I'll take my LTD EC-1000 with Duncan JB59's any day of the week...
