A different thread about the RNC, really

My Yamaha AW4416 has compression on every channel, that seems functional - if not sexy.

What could a RNC give me that I don't already have? Or a RNLA?

I'm not familiar with the onboard compressors on the Yamaha. Chances are the RNC will be better. It is however very transparent--so if you want a compressor that also colors the sound somewhat it may not be the right choice. It also doesn't do real well with bass guitar. If you like the results you're getting now I'd skip it.

I've heard the Yammy compression, and it is not nearly as nice as the RNC.

Also, if you are looking for compression that colours the sounds and sounds good, imho you have to pay a lot more.
