Im going to be getting a soundcard soon, had pretty much decided on the delta 44 till i started thinking, i dont really want to be doing processing in my pc, that is i dont want to use reverb plug ins, i wanna use a reverb unit. So i was thinking to accomplish this in a full song im gonna need more than 4 ins and outs, but then again maybe not. Anyone got any opinions/advice??

The advantage of recording with PC is that you get the dry signals and you get to play with embellishments afterward, ie, you can add reverb, adjust it, take it off, add delay instead, and so on. If you use an external 'verb, once that signals recorded, you won't be able to adjust the reverb.

That said, the Presonus Firepod is a good value at $600, and has 8 in.

You should still be able to do what you want with a 44.

After you've recorded, you can route the track(s) to one of the delta outputs, hook it to your outboard effects, then route back to one of the inputs and record onto another track. That way you keep the original dry track untouched, and still utilise your outboard gear
