"From Rolling Fork to Stoneville"

(refrain)...after every verse
From rolling fork to stoneville,
Cotton fields is all you see.
From rolling fork to stoneville,
Cotton fields is all you see.
And that rolling muddy river's the only thing round here that's free.

Verse 1
Those tiny shotgun houses,
All lined up side by side,
That delta sun will burn you up,
There ain't no place to hide.

(refrain)

Verse 2

Some are served cake in their parlor,
I get crawfish out the ditch,
Ain't but 2 kinda of folks here,
Dirt poor and filthy rich.
(refrain)

Verse 3
I'm in the fields each mornin',
Pulling weeds out the cotton row
My calloused hands are bleeding,
I got a hundred rows to go.
(refrain)

(bridge)
That windy sweet home city,
Is calling out my name,
To thumb a ride to town,
And catch the northbound train
But I got 5 hungry children
And my wife's down sick in bed,
So I'll bow my head tonight and pray for strength instead...

Refrain...
From rolling fork to stoneville
Cotton fields is all you see,
From rolling fork to stoneville
Cotton fields is all you see,
And that rolling muddy river's the only thing down here that's free.

The end

I have a delta blues amp, might be perfect for your tune.

I may do it in the style of muddy waters "I'm a man" instead of delta blues. I love that type of blues groove.

Delta blues would be cool too...with 2 acoustics. One finger picking and the other one doing slide.

I would change the fourth line to something like Cotton fields pass by me, or something, just so it isn't redundant?

Thanks,...
I guess you want a writers credit and a piece if the publishing action now huh?

a thanks is enough, your welcome. Just a thought anyway, who the hell am I?
