A couple songs

I listened to Someday. Sounds like a good first mix, and the song is nice. The rhythm guitar is too prominent, and a bit muddy. I wonder if an acoustic as the 2nd rhythm guitar would sound better, rather than two electrics. The vocals are good, but it sounds like the low end has been cut out. I'd add a bit more low end to the vocals.

As above. I didn't fancy the guitar tone too much on Someday. It sounds a bit dull and lifeless. An acoustic to compliment it might help.

"Someday" is a catchy song.. I think the chorus would benefit with harmony vocals with the main vocal track. It would make it sound bigger. My opinion of course! :)

"No Tomorrow" is also catchy but not as much… nothing much to say on my part..

good job!

cheers

I listened to No Tomorrow. Guitar was rather bright on my system. The verses sounded typical pop country (which I really don't care for) but the chorus then sounded more rockish (I've heard the sound, but can't put a name to it).

You have some good stuff, great songs, but I'm not hearing anything original or anything that catches the ear. You may have the instruments too crowded, see if giving them some space may help. Might be me, but the song isn't popping like it seems it could.

Good tune you have over all. Sounds like you may be aiming for a country pop crowd, if that is the case, you need to make ear candy.

Thanks guys. I'll put an acoustic on there and see what that does.

Here is my problem with acoustic guitar. This is a completely dry take of my acoustic. Do you hear that annoying constant ringing going on? I can't seem to get rid of that. Happens when I mic it or when I DI it. What the hell is it? I can almost EQ it out but then the overall sound is crap.

A note on No Tomorrow. Sounds good, but loses drive in the choruses. Maybe run 1/8 on the hihats instead of 1/4?

Well I'm pretty new to home recording but I will still tell you what I hear.
To me the song itself sounds as good as what's on country radio: lyrics, melody, and arrangement. That is no small feat.
What jumped out to me as far as a shortcoming of the mix, was a couple of problems with the vocals. First of all, they do sound too "treble" or something, like I want it to ring in my but it sounds distant, and does seem to lack some bass.
Interesting, the vocals don't seem to have the same problem in "No Tomorrow". Those ones sound good to me...
Also, I noticed some out of tune bits in the vocals (Someday).
Nice work though, I enjoyed listening.

I don't hear a ringing....just the same note that is in most of the chords..

Someday is nice...very country. The vocal need some tightening up....and of course harmonies are requirement 1 for a country tune. Also when you mix start with bass and drums Asa starting point. The drums sound buried...still nice tune.

Listened to Someday. Good song, good performance and arrangement.

I found the kick drum lacking, all click and no thump. It is not balanced with the bass guitar at all. The two are so dependent on each other, you've got to get them working together beautifully. For home recordings, it is the most difficult task, yet the most important. Be sure to listen to your mixes at low levels.

Others mentioned the guitars; yup, bring em down. The song is about the vocals and story, not about which chords you're strumming.

Thanks for sharing.

Listened to Someday. Found the guitar on the left was dominating the mix. Could use some balance on the right side. Nice sound (and performance) on the vocals - easy to hear and understand the lyrics.
