...happier than you.
O.K... so... all my posts are prefaced by really long dissertations filled with disclaimers and excuses and explanations....

and this one is no exception. :p

(that's just the way it's gonna be, so you might as well get used to it. :p)

Alright... well... I keep saying how I'm "just" a drummer and blah blah blah, but the only thing I've ever done around here (for the most part) is sing and play guitar... so I figured I'd take this opportunity to post some actual "drumming".

Anywhey.... I was at youth group tonight, doing some sound checking before the service, and me and my bro (known as TaGiFen around here) and my bass player just start jamming.... well... next thing you know... we go on some 30 minute long psycho jam. :p So we're having a blast, and then finally we cut out so we can start going through some songs. Then the sound guy comes up on the stage and I ask him if he ever records stuff like that, and he says, "Yeah.... I got that on tape". So I'm like, "whoo hooo!". :D So I get the tape from him and I was planning on taking it home and throwing it into ProTools so I can mess with it a little and then post it here for your listening pleasure...

But….

:(

It ends up that he only recorded aboot 2 minutes or so of the jam... It's not like I can blame him... he was sound checking and setting up the house mix, so I'm lucky he bothered to record anything at all.

Anywhile... I was bound and determined to get something posted (even amidst my disappointment)... so... here's two minutes of our 30 minute jam...

We had already been going for a while (this is near the end) and my bro got in some kind of "U2" groove. :p And I got in some kind of, "hit lots of cymbals" groove. And this is what it sounded like.

(p.s... the git is a little loud,.. but I ain't got no control over that... so oh well. :p)

Jam Clip

WATYF

(I actually got to "master" this a little in PT. That was kinda fun… you know.. working with actual drums and what not. :p)

sounds cool man.....sounds fun anyway....man i miss jammin...

sheesh you should use the toms more....lol...
drums actually sound pretty good for a screw around shlep fest..
whats a "youth group"....

lol
jamal

It has a cool U2 feel to it.(Im talking the good old days when U2 didnt suck!)

Nice drumming their dude!I knew you could play.:D

lol... yeah... I was kinda goin' crazy on the toms for some of that... :p I get bored during jams and just try all kinds of stupid stuff. :p

and... er... if you're seriously asking, then a youth group is the youth meeting that a church holds. It's pretty much church for teenagers. Ours is just a bit louder than most. :p

And yeah... the drums sound good because we hire a very good sound guy to work the board every week. He's freaking amazing.

Thanks Kramer... I agree... (not aboot my drumming, but aboot U2 back before they sucked. :p) Although, I must admit, they're not nearly as bad as they used to be back in the Zooropa/Pop days. dang that was some nasty stuff... :D

Thats the suck period Im talking about!LOL.I really got into U2 when I heard "New Years Day" and "Sunday Bloody Sunday".....I like all of their stuff from that time period.I agree that they have digged themselves out a little from the suck pit they were in after the Zooropa/Pop days...what were they thinking?LOL.

What A Tall Young F.....

....ffudge ;)

Ah... The Unforgettable Fire sessions...

Seems like when you got busy there... your bro just kinda shut up w/the guitar so he could listen :p Yeah, you're a drummer. Showoff :) BTW did you ever get that other song finished.. the one where you drum and that girl sings?

Your explanations and excuses aren't so bad, but you keep sticking your tongue out at us! How can we take you serious?!

---> :op :p <--

:p :D

You have to plunder to see whats in the cupboard. That was cool little section there.

that's some fine drumming.. It would be nice to hear a full song with drums from you.. I think the last time you also posted a clip..

Hey WATYF,
I couldnt get in man...... I got some kind of server error message......
I'll try again later.

That one is still "in the works". That song is part of our CD, which is stuck in production limbo. :p We're getting closer though, but it's still gonna be a bit before I have any worthwhile results.

I'll be sure to share some when I get 'em. :p

yeah... it looks like NWR is down. I can't get on it at all right now.

I'm sure Waldo will have the situation rectified in short order.

yeah..I listened last night, but nowhere is having problems now, it seems. From what I remember, it does have a good sound and I recall liking the bass sound. The drumming and sound was good also. What I remember (one listen only) of the gtr was that it was kinda 'getting off' on the echo thing and was kinda repetative as the bass/drums were kinda jamming away under it. ...like the gtr was searching for something to play. I liked the natural reverb sound the clip appeared to have also. Drum kit sounded good, dude...

yeah...I listened again this morning... pretty much the same comments as before. The gtr seemed kinda loud too.

so...you guys rock the 'House' with a 3 piece?;)

Yeah man, I really liked this one ! This was an overall good
jam and one can hear all the enthusiasm!

Great job!

thanks guys...

mix... yeah,... by that point, my bro was more "messing with pedals" than he was "jamming out". You can hear him stop sometimes and screw with the delay n'stuff. We're just lucky he didn't have his Whammy pedal that night... :p (dang, that thing is annoying. :p) The jam was just a three piece, but the full band is drums, bass, rhythm git, lead git, lead vox, BVG. (we used to have acoustic also). And the mix was done straight off the board, so that's why the git is loud. The reverb on the whole track was also applied directly off the board. All I could do was EQ/compress it a little when I got it home.

btw,... since you've abandoned your lust of my Taylor for the lust of my bro's Gold Top, I guess I should let you know that that's what he was playing. :p and the delay is a Line 6 Delay Modeler.

The guy:

-Drums like a madman
-Owns a Taylor 414CE
-Sticks his tongue out :p an average of three times per post :p
-Owns a cool acronym nickname (still think it's What A Tall Young ...FRUIT ;))
-Puts up excellent stuff
-Has access to nice gear

Nothing but thumbs up.

BTW your head is starting to swell like that of your avatar ;)

WATYF..... Kickin' on the drums!!!
Very nice playin man. Tight and solid..... ...and dynamic. I really liked the "open-up" at around 1:05. This is the part of music that i "really" miss. ...jammin, ......and that big rush you get when something clicks..... (sniff) I do miss that

...glad you put this up man ...very very cool.

.....somebodys gotta figure out a way to do "jam" collabs..... ...hmmm

gw/5

sounds good.........the drums sound great......

the sound guy did a pretty great job for what it was.....

Nah that wasn't a waste of time. It reminds me of great memories of jamming late at night with friends! Nice drumming man. You over-use that china though. You should back off it.
