this may sound like a silly question but i wanna create a sound like a huge crowd chanting a phrase, now do i just record lots of different voices and and mix them together or is there a simpler way of doing this?

are there any specific effects i could use to get that chanting crowd/audience effect?

Thanks in advance!

Yeah the simpler way would be to record a huge crowd chanting the phrase.

The way you do it is the way I do it. There are plugins but they really sound fake.

Ohhhh my! LMAO ;) No offense Melsi, but it is much easier :D

I'd go for bringing over a few friends having them chant it in a few takes on seperat tracks. Duplicate and offset as needed and also I would think you would want to use a pretty heavey hi pass on the tracks, Have them stand aways back from the mic. You may even need to use a low pass too. I thinl I would end up hyping some hi mids on the tracks. All of this can be done on a sub so it shouldn't be to much work providing you have friends and dont have to try and make some real quick like.

Actually a stero pair might get a nice effect.

Oh ya play back the original chant when tracking the others so there is some sink there.

Be carefull not to accidently summon the devil

Good Luck.

Go to a gig with lots of people chanting at.
Get 2 recorders and 2 mics. Have one guy recording at one side of the gig and another at the other side of the gig. Then pan them full and sync them up. Or you might not even need to sync them up.

That's fine if you want to hear people chanting other people's lyrics on your track....

I'm with bigwillz24, get as many people as possible and track them as many times as possible, for best results use different mic positions, different mics etc.
