A better and warmer sound than an avalon VT-737SP ?

Hello ,

I have an Avalon vt-737sp , and I want a better and a warmer pre. Amp.
It is most to record vocals.

What do you advice ?

Sure, Neve or API if you've got the dough for em. Those 737's are pretty colorless from what I hear.

Interesting. I have always found the Avalon 737 to be a very warm and colored sounding preamp. In fact, too warm and smooth sounding for my taste (most of the time).

Hhhmmm...if you want something more colored you might go for a vintage Neve, an API, Neve Portico, Great River, or Vintech.

Same here. the Avalon is damn near HOT.. thats why alot of people love them.. maybe you're using the EQ the wrong way.. cutting out too much low-end.. ?
