am seein more and more people from Scotland and "that other place ower the border" all the time on here. We should get a UK recording/jamfest on the go like our good mates over the pond here.

Anyone got a big field and a marquee?
My housemate has a marquee but our field isn't quite big enough :)

There are almost enough to make it work:
- Me
- You
- William Wallace here
- Tony Wilkes
- Garry Sharp
- Kit Wilson (CanopuS)
- Malcolm Toft ... yeah right ... I have called him on his mobile before though :)
- Plus all those newer peeps hanging around here ... give them time to see if they're cool and we should do it like next year or summat. We could kick their yankee arse-fest rear ends any day of the week.

How about a Pan-Atlantic HR.com drinking contest??? :D

It's funny - most Scottish singers tend to lose a bit of their accents whilst they sing (see Roddy Woomble of Idlewild), but yours is broad as hell. Cool.

Roddy Woomble sounds scottish to me... okay it's a well pronounced accent but it's a scottish one... listen to American English... that song kicks ass and my favorite thing about it is the scottishness in his voice...

And I'm from Carluke! Talk about the world being a village! no way

Shit man thats worse than being a weegie...

Lanark boys have white boy soul! lol i can see the gazette headline now...

Al - yeah - but he's 'more' Scottish when he talks, isn't he?

Fran Healy's another good example.

Hey, a tartan thread :)
When I'm in Glasgow they think I'm from Edinburgh & when in Edinburgh, they think Glasgow! I can get on a train & be in any of these 2 cities within hawf an oor of leaving the house. Where am I?

Scott

PS big field? marquee? T in the Park anyone?

handsome al, this is some good stuff--personal and intimate sounding. i hear a little blip at 2:37 just before the vocals come in. and 2:44, 2:47 where you hit the high notes it sounds like a bit of a stretch. i wonder if you could sparingly add some slight harmonies?

the whole thing is a cut and paste job... for instance the reason the bass clams (i now know what clams are lol - and i've known them well all along) are being talked about so much is that there's a mistake that's been copied and repeated throughout... likewise for the acoustic guitar...

I know what you mean about the stretch on the vocal at the end... but it was the first and only take... I'm hoping I can nail it when I come to track this properly...

just stuck this up to see what people thought of the song really...

cheers for listening

T in the Park ... not such a bad idea ... just a long way away for the English majority :)

Not sure if the penny is a pub or the jail/nuthouse!

I live where the two canals meet - quite a bit North of Carstairs.

It's the nuthouse... but it has great rail links for Glasgow and Edinburgh...

Is it Falkirk then?

Yes, Falkirk it is. Feels like a madhouse here at times to be honest.
Must have been a bit of an eye opener working at the hospi-jail Lemontree!

I love the song...

Record it with two mics, then work out the sound from there. It's a beautiful song it just needs that live one-take continuity.
Great stuff! If I let it keep playin I may drink meself into a depressed stupor rememberin old galfriends! Cheers. :p
