Hi All,

This is my first post as an absolute amateur wanting to do a little recording for my personal pleasure. I have a Kawai Grand Piano which is where I spend most of my time. I also have a Yamaha SY77 which I purchased when it was first released and have recently hooked that up to my Windows 7 PC with a MIDI / USB cable and use it to play around doing some MIDI recording into Reason 4.0

I think my next step is to find an 88 key MIDI controller with a better piano type feel so that I can use the excellent grand piano samples that I have in Reason, but with the octave range and feel closer to my actual grand piano rather than the SY77.

I have seen a used CME UF8 available for sale at an affordable price. However I have read that some people have had problems using it with Windows 7 due to lack of drivers. Does anyone have nay experience of this, or would someone be able to recommend an alternative keyboard that would suit me just as well? My only real priority is that it must be 88 key and have the best "feel" possible for my budget of around $400 (either new or used). I know that feel is very subjective and I will not be overly fussy - I know that it's still not going to be the same as my Kawai, but I just want to get a bit closer to that than the SY77 permits.

Any help or advice would be really appreciated.

Not sure how much you have to spend but I recently bought an M-AUDIO prokeys 88sx.

Pretty good action on the keys and I have been very happy with it as both a midi controller and
for the sounds it comes with.

Also you can connect it either via midi cables or by USB

Thanks Roger. That looks like a good contender since it appears to be around my budget of $400. My only thought would be whether I am buying more than I need since I only need the MIDI controller aspect - not the on board sounds. Also I am thinking that semi-weighted would feel more like my synth, than a hammer action keyboard. Would that be correct?
