I want to record my 8-track audio cassette masters on my desktop (running on XP), not as a mixdown, but each track individually. I don't want to record the tracks separately as they won't sync properly due to the fluctuations in tape speed when played back. The master tapes were recorded on a Tascam 488mkII, but I will be using a Yamaha MT8X to play the master tape as it has 8 direct outs, where the 488 does not. Is it possible to record all tracks simultaneously on my PC to avoid the sync problem, and if so, what additional equipment/software will I need?
