Dude, why do you always have to go around posting up all of these pictures of your gear?:p I'm running out of towels to clean up the drool.:D

All I've got is my 424mkII.:( Great machine, but I would love to have 8 tracks.;)

Some nice machinery you got there BTW.

digital recorder

hey dave,

how do you like the new tascam you got for xmas? the digital one.have you experimented with it yet?

clevo

No! No new gear for Christmas!

I tossed around the idea of getting a DP-02 or 2488, but decided against it. There are some inherent design limitations on all these newer units that I'm not fond of, but that's another post!

I have a LOT more mileage to get out of my existing gear! (That's an understatement).

The last 3 recordings I did were thrown down to the 488mkII. Tape Rules!;)

Nice equipment

I have a 424 MK III and a 488 MK II also. I just got the 488 and I really like it. I also use the Behringer REV2496 for sound effects and a TEAC CDRW880 to make CD'S when I'm done laying down tracks, I'm shopping for a studio condenser mic now, I've been thinking about the MXL 990. Have you got any recommendations? Jim

That's cool man! Thanx!

The condensers I've used are all 80's vintage TASCAM mics with internal battery. I have a Shure BG 5.0, but I can't give you an actual user report on it. I have a variety of dynamic mics, including Shure SM57's and a variety of A/T's.

I don't have opinions or advice on specific newer mics you'd find OTC.

I'm not really into mics. I only have a couple dozen.;)

Hey, you know I'm a fan, Dave! 'Nuff said!!:):)

I always wondered, though, with all the larger formats you also own, the MS16 and I think I saw an ATR or something, why haven't you explored those for your recordings? Is it the convenience of the "portastudio" or something else? Just curious. :)

tascam m-35 mixer

hey dave,etc.

any experience or opinion on the M-35 mixer? Im close to scoring one if all of the stars line up right. Im sure you guys are familiar with it. Ive got a Yamaha Mg 16 which I am very happy with, but you know the feeling... I really think it should match up nice withmy 424/488.

I have NO VU METERS and I WANT VU METERS!!

Thanks!!

Clevo

Heavy, man!

Heavy!...............;)

Its heavy and the most confusing mixer I have ever owned. Some of the things they did on the 35 just dont make sense to me.

I think...

it's a good sounding mixer with good features that's complex but not too confusing.;)

thats the one!

dave,

thats the same one im biddin on.im the only bidder and theres only a few hours left, so im confident.so its pretty complex? cool....nothing luck some unnecessary frustration to make me appreciate the simplicity of a portastudio...

its a good deal for 80 bucks.....plus, i have no VU meters in my studio.a studio with no VU meters is on par with one with no lava lamp...

i read that its really for compatability of the model 80 tascam reel to reel...

so when biz picks up i can search for a model 80. i just cringe when i see rca inputs and outputs on older gear... i think thats the setup on the model 80.

thanks all...

It looks like you may have won that mixer Clevo. Congrats! I just noticed that on the left hand side of the back of the mixer there are not any jumpers for the buss outs like you see on the channel strips. You will want to get some for it or you cant use the mixer correctly.
When you get it you can always just pull some from the channel strip to test it out though.
Like dave mentioned its heavy, Like 64 lbs:eek:
Good luck with your mixer.

Yeah, but the manual's included! A big plus!

The M-35 is a perfect match to the 38, fwiw.;)
I'm biased, of course, but I'd always choose a 38 over an 80-8.
RCA I/O rules!;)

I....

I don't recall any jumper plugs on the busses (like the M30 requires), but I'll have to take a moment and scope out the back of my 35 when I get a chance.

For being in the same family of gear, the M30 and M35 are really not alike at all.;)
