SCSI was also used in PCs, especially servers. They tended to have faster sustained data rates than older IDE (PATA) drives which is good for multi-track recording. I think SATA drives have long since rendered them obsolete but last time I checked you could still get them.

Uh huh I had a PC with a SCSI HD on a PC years back (pre Win 95) for that reason, and all our PCs and Unix servers at work had them too because the throughput was important to the high-end desktop publishing apps we were running in those days when 180MB was a big drive.
