Hi folks,
.....I was just wondering how many of you guys are using the Tacam 788. ......Ive had mine for about 6 mos. now, and am very pleased. Great little machine for the bucks.

I have the 788, I've had mine maybe 8 mo. or so. I'm also very pleased with it.
 
I got mine a week ago. Love it so far. Got to learn all over again. But that's what's fun about this hobby. Hope to post a tune very soon.

Had mine for just about a year, now. Excellent piece of equipment.

Every day I learn another exciting feature and I've really progressed in my understanding of music production.

I've got at least 3 CD's now that I've composed, performed, mixed, mastered, and cut to disc. This is the fun that I was looking for since I first dreampt of composing 40 years ago.

I'm looking forward to operating system version 2.0. That, and a computer and my studio is well on its way to completion.

The downside.....
An ever escalating equipment needs list. I just picked up a Motif 7. Now I've got 2 keyboards, 2 basses, 2 guitars, a piano, a pair of SM57's, a 20 channel mixer, and a pair of Ampeg stacks.
.....this will never end.
 
Can (N-E-1), tell me the short version of how to record efx at the same time the vocals are being recorded?????

I have applied them several different ways but on play back they disappear
 
k ive owned mine two weeks but hear goes...push effects1 and choose effect chain...then hold it down and push what channel to route it to then BOTH lights should be linked together and what you hear should record....someone could correct me if im wrong but i was using it last night and think that is what i did.

I got mine just about a week ago, and I love it. Can anyone tell me the converter for microphones that plug into the back? I didn't receive one in the package.

Also:

It refers a lot to a "monitoring system". What is a monitoring system, and is it something extra besides just phones that I can plug into the back?

Also, I am having trouble hearing my guitar when I assign the input source to the mixer channel. I followed the manuel exactly and everything is assigned correctly (i think), but the only way I can hear the guitar through the head phones is by turing up the channel, the stereo, and the monitor volumes up as far as they can go. Then whenever I play, it sounds like it would if I was maxing out my amplifier (that kind of distortion sound).

What can I do to fix this?

I've had my 788 for two weeks now, and love it. There's a lot to learn and digest -- esp. if you're new to recording like I am, but it's fun and I've been very impressed with the machine.

Curly: The convertors are two XLR to TRS adapters. Mine were in sealed packages. Each one was in a little cut out on each of the two styrofoam supports.

As for your guitar input problems, are you sure that you are plugging in your Guitar into input D, and that the switch is set for Guitar?

I found the Operational Tutorial really clear on this (page 3), after I remembered to turn up the Trim pot on input D! :D

When you say turn up the trim pot, do you mean turn towards "mic" or turn it towards "line"?

(What exactly does trim do)
 
Trim is for the mic preamp

Basically it's another word for "gain." That's the preamp that boosts the rather weak signal that comes from microphones.

Exterior Speaker system, like reference monitors so you can hear things more accurately than through just the head phones
