703 fiberglass

I finally found out a little more about it, and found an ac professional to be able to purchase it for me, but because of how anal my mom is, she's so persistant that the 703 fiberglass is not safe to breath in or w/e.

i know that cant be true, or at leats not that bad because a local venue i play at, all the walls are created with the 703 fiberglass [which is like 1,000 sq feet] and thusands of people use it PLUS its used for air conditioners... what we breath haha

but i wanted to know if anyone had a site that explained the non hazard/hazards of this stuff. i searched and couldnt find anything

Here is the Safety Data sheet for it. I have not read much of it yet but I gather that some people may be sensitive to it while others can tolerate it. But don't take my word for it. I'm just guessing.

Read that thing! Print it out and show it to your mom too. She has a right to know the truth if you bring that stuff into her home.

Perhaps if you explained to her that one reason we cover it with fabric is to keep those little fibers from becoming airborne, it may help your argument. (...as well as your lungs.)

I just bought/received a carton of 6-2 inch 2X4 panels from ATS Acoustics. $74 for the 6 plus shipping. http://www.atsacoustics.com/cat--Raw-Sound-Absorption-Materials--102.html
Do a web search on Owens-Corning 703 and you will get a ton of info.
Check out info provided by Ethan Winer too.
You'll pretty much find that as long as the fibres arent disturbed, there is no problem. Use a face mask, long sleeve shirt, long pants and gloves when working with the panels and you should be (SPEAKING IN GENERALITIES!) fine. As mentioned above, get the panels wrapped in material.
One of the big High Schools I substitute (music) for use about 20 6ft X 2ft OC 703 panels in their band and orchestral rooms as well as in their practice rooms that are covered with fabric in the front and around the sides only.

yea true, thats what i wanted to do too, and i explained that to her, she just is curious form liek a profesisonal point off view the exact hazards or w/e of te product. thanks guys
