So I have never recorded an acoustic guitarist before, so it was definitely an interesting experience. To celebrate, I want to show you guys this mix I have so far.

Couple of things that are bugging me:

1: Drums seem stuffy, I don't know how to put it, but its almost like mud without being low enough for mud.
2: I have a friend who constantly complains about my synths. I just changed to a new sawtooth synth I have, what are your opinions of it?

And any other opinions!

it's interesting. is it something with an intentional structure or is it just kinda like a jam that you call a rock opera? as far as the sounds go i don't think the drums sound muddy or stuffy. they're not super clear but i think it sounds fine. it's hard to critique a song where unorthodox sounds suite the style. ie. if your were to record the drums lo fi or at a strange level it would work because in general, as a whole, the song is unorthodox. does that make sense? but anyway i think it sounds fine

Hey Django!! (only at the start now I realise!)
Woah, starts off pretty basic but lovely guitar playing. And then I see why it's called the 6th movement of rock opera! I love this. When the drum came in fully in the last minute, sounds great.

As for me the drums sounded OK but came in strangely. A bit too suddenly, no?
Keyboards sounded great on my headphones
I found the bass line a bit too dirty on my headphones. Not sure whether that's just my monitors though. And the guitar playing could be cleaned up a bit.

All in all though, I love it!

Updated the link with a better mix. Deeper EQ cuts with the piano and guitar and a slight boost in the drums' volume. Also made the synth the right octave.

Thank you. No its not a jam exactly, the guitar part until the hi-hat comes in was "Here's the tempo, here's the chord progression, now play." The majority of the rest of the album/opera is note for note written.

And I'm slowly working on the timing issues for the guitar part. It was a one time session gig, and was happy with the overall performance, so minor edits here and there shouldn't be a problem.
