688 to 2488

I need advice on transfering analog to digital. Tascam 688 cassette to 2488 digital. Should I run the signal through compression, sonic maximiser, noise reduiction etc. I have these units already. Should I line them all between the signal? Thanks, John

My gut reaction would be to do a straight transfer and then assess what needs to be done. You'll want the cleanest path between the two devices. Once your in the digital realm you'll have more flexibility. If you process the signal during the transfer, then you're more or less stuck with what you've got.
