Bought a pair of 603's and a DMP3 this week and I'm happier than a pig in shit. Also bought a multi-mic holder which allowed me to X/Y the mics but I found that after some experimentation I got super results by focusing one on the 12th fret and the other where the fretboard and soundhole meet at about one foot away. When I tried pointing one toward the lower bout (like some of you have said) the sound got very midrangy (nasally?). Anyway, I can't believe the low self noise of these cheapy mics and DMP3- I've been using ARTv3's and they sound like diesel engines running in my headphones in comparison. I run straight into an AW16G and put a 2:1 compression on and just a touch of high end EQ...I don't find the 603's to be bright at all...at least on my Morgan acoustic.
