Captain Sea Boots
I am not satisfied with this song. But I want unbiased reviews, so I won't tell you what I dislike. Any feedback is welcome. Thanks.

I should mention that this is for an album, and it will not be professionally mastered due to money constraints. For software, I use Tracktion2.

:)

I really like this song but here's some things I'd do differently.

1. The bass/guitar rhythm is good but the vocals need to come up, I think the vocals are buried. My impression is the vocals are going to make this song and they should be heard. The singer is on key, the lyrical content is there and there's no reason to hide them (intentionally or not).

2. Percussion seems to be lost (for my taste). It could be a big part of the track at the beginning and should take up the slack when the bass/guitar relax for the refrain. Complement and emphasize the vocals.

One of the better tracks I've heard here. I'd put in my playlist rotation. Good job.

Good song!! I really like it, but...
Vox is in and out. Try more compression. I agree with x14.... that the vox is the center of the song. Some comp should pull it forward.
EQ wise, it sounds like everything is trying to live in the same place, inclding the drums.
I think you might have everything there and all you need is a remix from scratch

i agree with most of what's said here. Vocals need to be louder, and also drums.

Bring the kick out, if at all possible, I couldn't hear it at all (but I am on laptop speakers right now, so.....there ya go). Great song, though!!

Thanks for the feedback everyone. Here is my second attempt at mixing it:

I think it's a bit of an improvement. Opinions? Tips?

Bump. Just looking for any more pointers after the new mix. Thanks.

Second mix defenetly better. The vox sound better louder. The guitar lead is panned hard right, and rythm hard left. Reminds me of the beatles, im not sure if that kind of seperation is a good thing or a bad thing, but the song sounds very good and very mainstream. :)
