I'm thinking about picking on up for the oddity basically. Anyone play one? How do you get it to tune correctly without some kind of compensation, or is that a problem corrected by scale length?

I thought 6 string banjos

were tuned like guitars? I thought that was the whole point of them.

Am I wrong again?

the six string is a way for guitarists to play banjo right away.
Of course you can tune it different then a guitar if you like.
Intonation is a combination of scale length and string gage.
Either way, expect to hear a loud clanging noise party unless
you can develop the skill to coax something musical out of it.
Without the high drone string, don't expect to be playing any bluegrass styles.
have fun!

It just won't really give a banjo sound without the high G string, and a flat pick just won't do it either. But yeah, it will add a different colour to the mix-so I reckon thats what we are all after.. :D
