I am using an MXL V67 at the moment but have been advised to upgrade to the AT 4040 (which I'm going to do). Currently I'm running the M-Audio Audiobuddy Pre, but I've been told that the preamp won't bring the best out of that mic.
I reckon I have about £200-£300 (say $500 cause our electronics in the UK are hella expensive) to buy an appropriate preamp. Which would have the best effect at giving a clean dry vocal for mixing?
I'm not so worried about features cause I prefer to mix AFTER recording, so I just want "The Best" preamp at giving a clean sound for aroudn that price or a little more...
