424MKII as mixer?

I've got a 3340S and I want to use my 424MKII's mixer with it. Can I come out of the tape outs, then to individual tracks of the 3340. Can the 424 be put into pause while in the record mode? I'd like to record 4 tracks at once. there's got to be a way...........calo
 
The tape outs aren't direct outs. There are a couple of options.... use the effect sends as outs and use use 2 channells panned hard left and right out of the line-out. Just like that, 4 outs.
