424 mk 2 user tips??and dubbing??

i am purchasing this unit tommorrow
it does not come with a manual
can anyone give me some good tips that would help a begginner progress quickly, also is it possible to record 3 tracks(lets say vocal, percussion, percussion) and combine them to 1 track if so how
any tips would be greatly appriciated

the manual is for the MKIII, but they're pretty much the same.

3 tracks to 1 is called bouncing or ping-ponging. After you've recorded material to 3 tracks, arm your 4th track, set the others to safe, set your channel selects to input and mix to taste. Everything will go through the mix buss to the armed track. Keep in mind that everything will be mono going to the 4th track, so don't do any panning on the other 3 tracks, or your levels may be out of whack.
