421 clip?

I bought a used 421 and it came with a clip. When I try to screw the clip on either of my 2 mic stands, the clip is too big and just falls off the stand. Do I need a new clip? The threads on the clip don't appear to be stripped. Every other mic clip I have works on my stands. What is the deal? Am I missing something? Am I being a dumb@%#?

I've got three 421's. I found the perfect clip and use it for all of them:

Electrical tape. Seriously.

There are two sizes of mic stands.

You just need an adapter.
