If I'm doin it by myself, and I want to put drum mach on 1&2 and guitar on 3 and bass on 4, am I better off just putting the record funtion on 1,2,3,4 instead of L,R ?

Yo Bubba:
I don't know if you'd be "bettter off" but when I used a 4 tracker, I never messed much with the left/right. I put my dials in the middle and then panned during mixdown if I wanted to move one of the tracks left/right.
