I bought the Studio Projects C4's and they are great. You can get them for $300 new.

cool suggestion i forgot about those .. only 300 too nice

anyone else?

$300 = set of SP C4 sdc mics

$400 = set of Rode NT5 sdc mics

They're both nice---personally I prefer the C4 set.

There are a lot of options at $400 if you want to use ldc mics as overheads . . .

thee is so many to choose from

I've had the KSM 109's for about 2 years. They're mainly used as OH's but have used em on acoustic guitar as well and I think they do a great job. I think I paid about $170 apiece. my 2c.......

There was a guy on there a few weeks ago selling them for 89.99 a pair with free shipping.

Cool! Even better! If I was interested in buying a matched pair, I'd probably make this seller an offer, and mention that other $89 deal.

I do have a Joe Meek JM37PD LDC that I really like, as well as the 3Q pre/comp/EQ.

I like either the Rode NT5's or The rode NT3 at that price range. Depends if your close micing the rest of the kit or not. The c1000 is a little harsh but still ok if you can find them cheap. I wouldn't buy one new. The senn 614 is warm I find it to be better for acoustic guitar and the like. The studio projects that someone had mentioned are good as well but I still think the rode mics are a little smoother

Yeah, they're matched.

I think I got em at MF...?
Sorry, not too sure where I got em. It was in the middle of a gear-lust induced buying spree... :p

If you have a choice, stay away from the c1000's. Unless you want to buy mine....
