32 bit vs. 16 bit recording on Cakewalk (or digitally)

do you guys honestly hear a difference in 32 bit recording verses a 16 bit recording when recording on your computer? I just believe that when you export your 16-bit data into a stereo wave...it actually copies it exactly, not degrade the quality another 16 bits down. This is only revelant if the whole recording was done in the computer from start to finish. What do you think, could i be correct? Share your experiences.

Wish I had the capability to record 32-bit, best I've come up with so far is 24. I have not heard of much, in the way of infrastructure, for 32-bit support. To me the difference between 16 vs. 24 is night and day. Knowing when and where to do what, is the key.

all im trying to point out is, does anyone notice a real difference in recording in 24 bit (or any higher bit rate) compared to 16 bit?

I'm no expert but I disagree. Listen to Steve Vais' Fire Garden CD mastered at 32 bit vs most others out there. BIG difference. To me it's (increase in bit) a warmer - fuller sound. I would imagine that applies to 16 vs 24 bit to a lesser degree...I can hear it. But then again, I have bunny ears.

Sorry, there is *nothing* out there mastered at 32-bit... the current technological max bit resolution and sampling rate is 24/96 and few enough mastering houses work at *that* level... check out Bob Katz' site - http://www.digido.com - for more info on bit res and mastering....

Sorry...I do stand corrected!! I went back and checked and it was mastered at 20bit.

It still makes a heck of a difference in sound so I still stand behind my opinion....

I will read up on the mastering though! Thanks.
