I'm sure this is a stupid question. I just loaded Pro Tools Essentials. I can paste samples to any length I want. My problem is, when I record a track, it stops automatically at 30 seconds. What simple, stupid thing am I doing wrong?

have you selected/highlighted a 30 second region, then hit record?

if a region is selected, protools will only record for the duration of that region.

if that's what you've done, you just need to click somewhere on the timeline up at the top, so that nothing is selected, then start recording.

This would most likely be the problem. You could also have little to no space left on the hard drive your recording to.

That was it!!! Told you it was stupid. Thanks!!!
