Greetings everyone.
I've made a couple of recordings has I was play. But recently I seetled down and started making something more complex, with more instruments and complexity.
I started by recording guitar and keyboard. I've had no trouble this far.
Recorded acoustic guitar and then applied some cubase effects (I'm using cubase le5) and made it look as a bass of sorts, seemed the best solution since I don't have an actual bass.
Now I'm struggling with 2 issues.
1- I want backvocals, and I'm recording them, but I believe if I had a vocoder it would be a lot easier and accurate. However I can't afford to buy a vocoder, so I was wondering if there isn't any free virtual vocoders online.
I'm not looking for those weird robot voices, they would be a nice addition I could explore later but now I'm looking for something clean...maybe some chorus or delay but not much. The main idea is to record one voice and by pressing a chord on the vocoder I'd have a set of 3 or more voices same has mine recorded at the same time. (I believe that's possible right?)
2- The second issue is percussion related. So far I have a click track. I was told using midi drums don't go well with audio (I heard the have problems with syncing with the tempos) so I'm open to ideas for drum recording... needless to say I don't have drums.
I was thinking of maybe getting to know some nice guy/girl that played drums around here and having him/her recording the drums for the songs.
3- I've seen some videos on youtube, people testing testing vst's and other stuff. They have the program running on the computer and the keyboard plugged in. And they use the vst's activated by the keyboard.
I have Kontak 4 (that has lots of interesting sounds) and I have a keyboard, a yamaha psr e323 and a proper midi cable (the one recomended in the instruction book).
How can I plug these too together? I've tried to set the midi but all I got was a headhacke, I must've been doing something wrong.
I also can't record anything with Kontak 4 alone. I can't open it on cubase. How do you record anything with kontak 4? I can play it fine using the qwerty keyboard but I can't open it anywhere or record with it.
Thanks for reading and bearing this little newb of home recording.
I hope to read your answers soon
Cheers
