in my band we have 3 guitarist and during recording track by track we are confused who to record first becuase they dont all play at the same time so how do i get all of the times to match but still record track by track

im sure that doesnt make any sense so let me know if i should try to reword it

Have everyone play together, but only mic/record one. Repeat, but now record another guitarist. You'll get mic bleed, but the feel will be much more intact. Plus you might even get a fatter "doubled" sound from the bleed from the multiple takes. Make sure you start with a solid click track too, not just a metrodome CLICK click click click. Try to get a drum machine and program the a rough beat/groove you want and put it on a loop.

think BED TRACK.
record a bed track consisting of rhythm guitars, drums and bass.
(run the bass direct if you can). try 2 mics XY over drums plus a kik
mic or replace the kik with a trigger to a kik sample.
also try triggering snare samples.
then once you have a kicking bed track record the lead guitar fills and breaks and the lead vocals. try doubling techniques for richness.
add back up vocals if the song calls for it.

Sounds like a latency problem. Try some buffer tweeking.

tanks to all

thatnks to all who posted it helped alot i have no drum machine or metronome though and also in the band we have me as a drummer wich doesnt say much i just started 3 months ago and they have all been playing guitars for a 1 or 2 not to mentiion that there is no bassist. so my new question is can a band actually prospure when you have this set up and you start every new song with some guitar riffs and add the drums later? should we get a bassist and do bass and drums first instead?

what recording software on the pc are you using ? every software these days lets you lay down a click track. or you can just build your own.
record a pencil(or a fork or etc ) tapping on the desk then copy and paste it XX times for the length of the song.

Why not start off with everyone playing together. Since you are all relatively new to your instruments (from your description) this will probably be the most comfortable enviroment for you.
The first go round you will be focusing on getting a good drum take to tape or your preferred recording medium. If you have enough mics/inputs, mic up everyone just make sure that your not getting guitar bleed in the drum mics (at the least try to minimize it). Stick the amps in another room and use headphones if you can.
Once you get a descent drum track you can go back and overdub guitars as needed. This approach usually works the best in my experience with newer bands that I have recorded.

sick idea i like it but with the mr 8 from fotex it only has two jack for input pimary and aucilary

with 2 inputs I would mic the drums up best that you can. Still have everyone play live but only put the drums to tape first. I am assuming that your guitarist can follow the drum track once its laid down?

I will always start with the rhythm section as tight as possible, so do drums and bass first. It is easier to play the guitars around, but if the guitars go off then there is no way ever that the rhythm section will ever catch them. Remember that the rhythm section is the heart of the song and the guitars, etc are just extras around it, so IMO you should put the horse before the cart. Even if you are to use a cheap drum machine which will them be deleted later, at least you know that the rhythm will later have something correct to work to.
