I re-did this song from a previous post. I took some mix ideas and thought I would post it again to see if I did anything better, or worse (which is very possible). I really can't tell. Since the files of the first take are gone from me losing them, I had to redo everything. So now I saved the wav files of this one in a safe place, and can actually re-mix it if I want to. It sure helps to keep good records of your files, so you know which ones NOT to delete. Its the hard way for my first attempt at digital recording, and mixers, and computers pretty much, and effects boxes, and monitors, and drum machines and explaining to my wife why I am spending so much time in the basement. This sure is a lot of work, but it is really fun.
So if you want to take another listen to Relieve Me and let me know if I was able to improve on it, let me know. Your advice here is very much appreciated. Its 4MB at 128kbps.

Please put this on the comp cd. It's that good...big differences in the new mix...I can actually hear a rhythm guitar and it sounds so fine; adds fullness and, well, additional rhythm...the bass is up front when it needs to be and sounded tighter, did you re-do it completely? This mix is way good and I'm way envious.....

Gibs hit the nail on the head - it really sounds awesome! I got no bones to pick what so ever. I'm sure everyone will want this to go on the compilation. Great Stuff!!!!

Bobbo: A Comp CD contender.
Ya know, I did listen to your first mix and liked it but felt that a higher bitrate was needed. Now that you've upped the ante to a meager 128, I A/Bed your mix in Vegas Pro against what I planned to submit for the comp CD and now my stuff sounds <weak>..... :(
Now I've got to remaster it. :)
Nice job.
Have you ever heard Chad and Jeremy?
As to your filing woes: For each project create a folder (named XXXdisc1 and put all the stuff from that project in that folder. If it grows beyond 650 MB, write to CDR, wipe and rename the folder XXXdisc2 and continue in this fashion until your project is done. The CDRs can be cataloged by date alone or by date and TOC depending on how grindy you want to get. It'll save you a lot of frustration because there's no point in writing to CDR if you don't know what's on each disc.

BOBBO !!! good tune.. i was bobbin my head the whole time..put a smile on my face.. i didnt get a chance to turn it up too loud , so i cant really comment , but the vocals sounded a lil too up front.. but im probably wrong.. and that snare drum sounds really artificial.. but... im no recording engineer.. but great tune .. and the panning and the mix was great.. keep it up bobbo !!!

Bobbo,
I was really looking forward to hearing this, unfortunately, Mac with IE4 must a have a real problem with Juston. I can never DL anything from them. Any suggestions?
Bobbo, I really want to hear this bad boy!!

brad..i was having issues too...but just tonight i upgraded to IE 5 and it worked like a charm...at a pretty fast dl speed of 4.25 kilobytes per second.. ( thats fast for my connection ) ..

This is a great mix and a great song. Everything sounds fine to me.

Oh good, thanks for the comments, I was kind of afraid of needing to do a lot more with it mix wise. I did have to do everything over and did add some extra rythym guitar. I'm using an alesis sr-15 drum machine and changed a few things on that mix, I do wish I had a better sound from it, but I'll find it someday. I tried to EQ both rythym and distorted guitars differently from S8-N's suggestions. With the bass track I think I just added a little more low to it from Slackmasters thoughts. With the vocals, I had to edit those like crazy to get the cats meowing out of them. They kept trying to get into my insulated cardboard duct taped isolation chamber for those tracks. That helped me with my software editting skills, but was a pain in the ass and also my mouse hand.
drstawl, I've heard the name Chad and Jeremy, but don't know who they are. Do they have cats too? Its kind of funny, I keep trying to listen to see if I can still hear them in the mix, because I know they were going at it when I was singing sometimes, maybe they were saying, "but father, I just want to singggggg..."
Maybe I will leave it the way it is, unless anyone else has any other suggestions. At least I can find the files this time, that feels reassuring.
Thanks

Good job Bobbo! Your song is the first Mp-3 I've ever downloaded and played. I was expecting the quality to be far less than it is. Your tune is cool and the recording is clean ( I'll have to listen for the cats next listen) Congrats on your virgin expedition into Mp-3 land. I am still screwing around with getting a DAW system set up. Your success is inspiration to get my ass in gear.

Thanks for your comments everyone. TAE, its pretty great listening to other peoples mp3's from here, I really like to see what people are doing with their setups. I don't like listening to the radio and whats on it in my town, so its real refreshing to here different music, especially from people here, theres some good writing and music from these folks I think. Thats one reason that I am looking forward to the comp CD. I can play it and say, hey I kind of know that guy/or lady. drstawl, you gotta tell me who chad and jeremy is, I'm getting curious. I found a website that sells their music, but nothing about them. What kind of music do they play?

Bobbo: they have short samples of Chad & Jeremy stuff at cdnow.com. The style is a bit dated, but the sound is as I remember it.
Too bad it's only shabby RA samples.

Bobbo, good job! Can't add a lot to what the others have said except that I think the instrumental arrangement is what makes this tune for me. The motion of the bass and guitars is really neat.
