I had to reinstall XP due to a nasty virus. Now it does not recognize my audiophile 2496. I installed the card last fall and I don't remember it coming with a disk and I can't seem to find one anywhere in my mess. I downloaded the current driver from m-audio..should that be all that I need, or do I need additional software??? I still can't even get the computer to find the hardware. AAAAAAUUUGH. Any help would be appreciated. I just want to hear some music and maybe record a few guitar tracks again.... It's a great sounding card. Thank you.

Go into System, Hardware, Devicce manager and see if the audiophile is listed in there. If not, there will be something under Sound, Video,Game controllers with a name like Audio Codec. Right click and select Update Driver. Then follow your nose and point it at wherever you've save the d'ld drivers

that was fast thanks. I tried that and it shows a yellow question mark where it should have showed the m-audio device and also another yellow question mark for the cheapie "consumer"card that came with my computer (I forgot wht it was called, "c-media" or something like that. Neither one is working since I reinstalled the operating system. I really don't care about the generic sound card. I used the audiophile 2496 exclusively as the default once I got it. I'll keep trying here and maybe my brain will start working but any more ideas will still be appreciated. It's definitely a start from scratch thing here.....

The yellow ? shows that Windows has recognised the card's presence, but doesn't have a driver for it. Just right click on it, Update Driver and you're away.

If that doesn't work, pull the card, start & stop Windows, put the card back and restart

I got it working!!! Thank you! Thanks for the help Bulls Hit! (nice name by the way) I think the solution was there all along and I was missing one step. Now my problem is I can't remove the Delta driver icons from the desktop...it is asking for a password. Do you know how the heck i can remove the driver stuff I saved to the desktop or could you point me in the right direction???!! Thanks again for the advice. This board is really cool. Y'all helped me find the right sound card for my needs originally and i have learned quite a few things here since!!

Never Mind!!!!

It quit asking for a password after the driver installed properly and I was able to remove everything from the desktop. Thanks again. I'll post again if I run into another problem.
