I have a Tascam 2488 Neo, barely used, so I'm not great with it. Here's the want: My wife has "karaoke" recording on a CD for some project she's doing. She asked me if it was possible to use my "magic black box" (the 2488) to record and mix voiceover of her singing to the recording.
Sounds like it should be easy...but I have no idea how to get the initial recording to tracks on the 2488. Is it just not possible? I've tried connecting my computer to the 2488, but found no way. Any help would be appreciated...my wife may then think that the "magic black box" that gets no use isn't so bad after all.

There are 2 ways, one would be to record the stereo track to a stereo track using the normal input channels and the other would be to import the song as a stereo .wav file via the usb. Then you can record the vocals in synch, mix, master and burn a CD.
It takes a while to get up to speed but the machine is well worth the time. Try to find the DVD for the 2488 it will help you out. There is also a Tascam Forum with a section just for the 2488
