hey, looking for a digital hard disk recorder, like a tascam 2424 i think (24 tracks at 48khz), but i dont want 24 tracks. I want something like 8 (that would be peeeeerfect), but at 48khz. Features include virtual tracks, and bouncing... OH and xlr inputs (the roland one would be perfect except the inputs arent xlr, and i dont want to use adapters to compensate for that). Im trying to keep it tight with money ( something under $1000) . Ideas?

i bet that uses compression when saving... i need something aside from compression

thats getting better thanks man... does anyone know of something similar to the big expensive hd recorders cept not as big, and not as expensive?

What about the following:
1. Fostex D824 8-Track Digital Recorder ($599)
2. Behringer MX2004A Eurorack Mixer ($249)

Eh... not as big... The HD recorder looks very good, but you'll of coruse need a preamp. That's why the MX2004A was included in the above list. I think this setup would be a very good, easy and fast start...

exactly how many XLR inputs do you need and why does it have to be 48khz?....
