24 bit?

I am looking to buy a new soundcard, and have been searching the web. I have specifically been looking for ones that come with a breakout box(8ins and outs). I have found a lot of options, but have a $450 limit. Is 24 bit that much better than 20 bit? Does it make that much of a difference? Also, is there a big difference between 96khz and 48khz?
My considerations are the Terratec EWS88MT, Aark 20/20, and gadget labs wave/824. Does anyone have any advice?

Do a search on this forum and you'll find probably a ton of discussions about the more-bits-better? question, and pointers to articles on other websites discussing the same...
