Howyadoin,

As I mentioned in a previous message, my Delta 1010 looks to be running solid... I'm running Sound Forge 4.5, which only does 16-bit sampling. The software that came with the card (Gigastudio 24, Logic Delta) seems to be MIDI stuff. Does the new version of SF support 24-bit?

Thanks as always!

Yes, Sound Forge 5.0 supports 24 bit depths and up to 192 Khz sample rates.

I'd be careful about this. I've owned Vegas Pro for many years- approximately same era as SF 5.0 and while Vegas Pro always claimed to support 24 bit/ 96KHz recording, it won't do it under WinXP which is the OS I have on the system with the 24 bit soundcard! I'm waiting for an explanation from Sonic Foundry.
I'll report it when I get it.

However the new version of Sound Forge (v6.0) and Vegas Video (v3.0) both do 24 bit recording no problemo.

And that Logic package that came with the Delta does audio recording if you can figure out how to work it. HAHAHA.

Hey doc, I was just having this same 24 bit problem with Samplitude on XP. I had to download WDM drivers for my hardware and then enable WDM within Samplitude (needed a patch for Samp too, I believe.) Why this is & how & why it works is beyond me @ this point - I've only been running this monstrosity for a day or two now. :D

Jim: Just got the official answer from Sonic Foundry.

24-bit recording is NOT supported by Vegas Pro under XP.
More accurately (from their point of view) Vegas Pro itself is not supported under WinXP. In other words, it's obsolete.

Vegas Video 3.0 works just fine. Same interface: looks just like Vegas Pro. I didn't ask about Vegas Audio- but they have a demo of that you can download.

drstawl, do you use Vegas Audio 1 or 2? I know they have combined audio with video now so hey only make one multitracking program. Vegas Video 3.0 is that. I have Vegas 2.0 and im under the impression that it works at 24 bits, but i thought Audio 1.0 did not work at 24 bits.

Even the old dinosaur Vegas Pro (what I have) worked at 24/96 but NOT on XP. I had 98SE at the time. I'm sure that Vegas Audio 1.0 and 2.0 both will support 24 bit recording provided that the OS it's running under is supported.
