ok, the m208 is a 4 buss mixer, but iv read you can get 8 tracks at once out of it with the direct outs....
where are the direct outs.... wich outputs are they refering to.
i dont see any markd "direct"
 
That might be possible by using the insert points as direct outs, I haven't tried it with mine, but if you use a standard 1/4" plug inserted only half way into the insert jacks you might be able to get a preamped signal out like you can do with a mackie mixer.
 
A caution about using direct outs.

They bypass most of the channel's functionality features like the main channel fader, the pan pot, the aux and effect sends and the tone controls as well in many cases. If you jury rig the insert to be a direct out it will be a raw signal at best.

The next series up called the 300 series from TASCAM does have real direct out connections that give you the mixing strip's channel's full complement of controls except the buss routing and pan control.
