I currently us ProQ10 and Aardvark sound card and i am using a home stereo for mixing/playback coming from the L/R monitor outs of the q10. I currently have no "computer sounds" and all "motherboard audio " is disabled. I WANT MY Monitors Outs BACK! So i got some computer speakers and now i can't get them to play! Can i have both cards enabled? and switch back and forth? thanks loco

Why not set the Q10 as your default audio device?

Hi Mad - it is set as my default and i can listen thru headphones and "home stereo passive monitors) for playback and monitoring. What i'd like to do is be able to switch to the computer speakers to mix/listen between takes etc. Also I mix a lot at home and our singer mixes at our "studio" -- this way we would both be listening to the same monitors and can "learn"the same monitors -- the home stereo LIES lika big dog- loco

The way I got it set up with my Q10 is:

(and first of all, I play everything basically through windows media player if it's a .wav or .mp3 ...you know like somebody will send it to me over the net and thats where it plays. With the Q10, it takes a good 5 seconds before it plays, and the whole computer hangs for that 5 seconds while it gets ready to play it through the Q10.).

So, this really pissed me off ofcourse. ha.
I ran a stereo out from my speaker/lineout on the motherboard soundcard, and took 2 1/4" monos from that (after an adapter of course) to my Q10's 7/8 IN on the front. That way it will play instantly, through the headphones/monitors/whatever is hooked up through the Q10.
I know I'm possibly (or AM) losing a lot of quality like this, but it's just for ease of use...and honestly I can't tell. I don't monitor or mix anything recording-wise through that...all of that is on Vegas ASIO. So, it's really a pretty good fix for the infamous Q10 and windows' low sample rate/whatever problems. ha

Is that why it takes so long for Windows Media Player to load audio files? I figured it was just the nature of the beast.

I run a Q10 and my Yamaha PCI consumer sound card. I need MIDI 'cause I compose a lot, and that's the reason I keep the Yamaha going. I run the outputs from both devices into an external mixer, so I can monitor anything on my computer without dis/connecting anything.

I currently have an M-Audio Revolution for my surround sound speakers, but I am also getting a Delta 66 (or 44) for recording purposes. I suppose my question is similar. Can both sound cards be enabled at the same time, and just choose which card I want for input/output? or would I have to disable a driver to get the other one to work?

Now let me get this straight - shackrock uses his computer soundcard (which i can't even get any sound out of) that was my original question But he uses Vegas to mix - on the same computer?
AGC uses his computer sound card (i thought one had to use the aardvark to play/use the q10 - doesn't sound like he does?
Iron -- is in my boat -- so DETAILS on getting my computer souncard up is what i need - i'm not a computer geek just enough to get in trouble - i follow as best i can and i think i'm getting some good recordings but i want to streamline and standardize Locosan thanks all of you for your input
