One of the biggest advantages of having multiple hard drives in your computer is having your data, i/e music, photos, graphic art work, etc, on say your drive D: and your operating sys (WINDOWS 95 or 98) and all of your programs on drive C: would become quickly apparent if your computer crashes. Usually if your computer crashes it happens on drive C:. This won't normally affect drive D:, leaving all of your hard work intact. Reprogramming and reloading programs is a lot easier than trying to recover lost data files from a crashed hard drive.
I hope this helps.
