I dont do computer recording, i might try it out, but one question that confuses me is, how do 2 soundcards work? Like say i ahve a soundblaster live! for windows sounds and a MOTU or something for computer recording, will that work?

It should as long as you have enough IRQs to go around and (of course) enough open slots for your two cards. Then you simply assign what goes where. Your PC recording program should have all available ins and outs represented as a selection for any track.
If you don't want to do computer recording, what's the MOTU for? You can just "try it out" for a LOT less than that!

ok, so im not one to buy twice, ie-cheap first then rebuy more expensive. And ive been looking at the MOTU cards as my obvious foray into the DAW world. I have my PC all fine but im trying to figure out which card to buy. Ive narrowd it down to the MOTU 2408 and 1224, is it worth spening more for the 1224 with the additional metering? opinions here please.

I may be able to offer my opinion on this topic. I first got a Soundblaster Live card and loved it. Then I got a better card, the Terratec EWS88MT. Now, I have both cards in the machine and everything functions with no problems.

So, you shouldn't really run into any problems when trying a combination like this. In fact, it can give you an extra set of inputs as well as outputs!

Now, I think I'll save some more cash for another Terratec EWS88MT card!

Adam.
