Don't tell notCardio - that's exactly what he's been waiting for.

That is identical to my 1976 reissue, before I installed the bridge HB.

What I've been waiting for

is one that's not $1200...

:(

I didn't say it shouldn't be that, just that I can't afford it. :(

What we really need is a time machine to go back to the late 70's-and buy it then and bring it back to today! Only problem is that they would think today's oversized currency is counterfeit.......

write em a check

I traded a 1970-something Les Paul Deluxe Goldtop for my reissue  The Deluxe cost me $550 + case. The Deluxe would have been a better investment, but I didn't care for the mini humbuckers, that's why I traded in the first place.

There's actually another one of these on eBay but it's not in as good a shape. This one never met the reserve even with bidding up to $1225

The current bid as of now on the one from the OP is up to $1200 now.

On eBay the average selling price/reserve seems to be around $1200 - $1400.

Be nice if they would reissue these new again. It's been 30 years...so it's about time! :D

Just wondering...how closely can those bridge tailpieces intonate a guitar? I remember that many people in the 1970's would replace them with the Badass adjustable bridge tailpieces and they worked very well.
Nicole, doesn't you're Goddess have the bridge/tailpiece and Mr. Z's Melody Maker have one as well??

my Goddess has a wraparound bridge. all one piece, and yes it works very well :)

Gibson USA makes a doublecut Special with 2 P-90s - available from MF for less than $1K. The Gibson Custom Shop has VOS 1960 Single- and Doublecuts, long tenon necks, but in TV yellow only.

Anfontan, yes, my Melody Maker has a non-intonated wraparound bridge and my Special has a fixed-intonation wraparound. Both of 'em get the job done - not exact intonation but pretty close.

Back to the guitar in question.

There's something odd about the pictures on that eBay auction.

The back of the guitar looks very good - it has a few scratches (you should see the back of mine!), but it is very glossy. But the back of the headstock and what you can see of the backside of the neck in that closup shot look very worn, and not glossy in the least.

I also notice that the back of the neck heel has dark burst on it, and my guitar is not sprayed that way - there is no burst at all on the back of my guitar.

I would suspect that this guitar has a skeleton or two in its closet. ;)
