Im looking into buying a vintage ludwig kit and am wondering if the bass drum will sound good. Its 14 x 20. im used to using bigger bass drums. How will this sound? Big? beefy? weak? high pitched?

It will most likely be punchier, and more defined, and it will "speak" quicker.

I would venture to say that probably 75% of the recordings made were done with a 14"x20" Kick drum. It yields a tight, punchy sound that records and close mic's really well.
