Apart from ability to play a record, what should I look at when buying a used one to make sure I’m not getting ripped off?

check that those dots on the side of the plate are totally stable.
there are 4 dots, when one of 'em is totally stable in the light of the power switch the table runs at respectively +6, +3.3, 0 and -3.3 % speed. gotta work..

check that the base of the tonearm is totally rock solid fastened..

check for extra 0% points on the pitch slider. When it's in the middle it allways switches to 0, but sometime you'll find tables where the rest of the pitch array is off centre. so see if you can find another place where that big dot on the side of the plate is stable.

Everything Chriss said....

And check the RCA patchcords.

Check the lights.

Check the tone arm base.

Check the Quartz Lock.

Everything is replaceable.

It's cheapest to replace the patchcords and lights (combined, maybe $30).

If you have to replace an arm it'll cost you about $125.

You could probably fix the Quartz Lock yourself.

I'll look for a link to a web page for you. ;)

i'm telling you, you can fix it dammit!!! you always take her side!!

Okay, this is what I meant Chriss.

If you want to match both of yor 1200's perfectly, you can align their Quartz Lock.

I KNOW you can.

On another note..... if the 1200 turntable is drifting off of LOCK, or is pitch drifting on any setting, you can have your electronics repair man fix the problem (I know that to be a fact).

Again, my good friend Chriss, I am not trying to start an arguement with you.

spinster one

as said here.. you can fix the quartz lock yo'self.. it's in the 1200/1210 manual... then you started saying "i'm not trying to start an argument here, but yes you can fix it.." kinda funny, as that's what i was saying..

My fault, bruh'. I was mis-reading your post. :D

Once again, my good friend, excuse me. ;)
